As the novel coronavirus has raged in China in recent days, since Feb 3 international workers have been able to obtain their work permits in Zhoushan by applying online instead of having to visit a special counter, according to a notice released by the city's science and technology department on Jan 31.
The exact date when the "no-visit" approval procedures will end will be announced after the virus is under control.
According to the notice, employers can dial 2280024 to file an application, or 2281520 (8:30 am to 12 am, and 2 pm to 5 pm) for premium processing.
The specific procedures are as follows:
1. Employers submit a letter of commitment in the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs' online management system for foreigners working in China.
2. Application approved by authorities after an online review.
3. For the work permit notification for foreigners working in China, employers may directly print the notification; for the work permit for foreigners working in China, employers may get it by mail.
4. Employers submit relevant documents and materials to Zhoushan's science and technology department after the virus is under control. The exact day will be announced by the department later.
