Located in the irrigation area of Dujiangyan Irrigation System, with rich resources and excellent natural conditions for agriculture, Chengdu is a national integrated urban-rural comprehensive supporting reform pilot zone; one of the first batch of national modern agricultural demonstration zones; a national agricultural product quality and safety city; and a national recreational agriculture and rural tourism demonstration city.

In 2018, Chengdu's agricultural added value reached 54.17 billion yuan ($7.77 billion), the total agricultural output value was 90.93 billion yuan, the agricultural product processing output value was 150 billion yuan, the agricultural e-commerce retail transaction value was 8.78 billion yuan, and the total rural tourism income was 39.38 billion yuan.
