Renowned as a pearl inlayed in Huaizhuo Basin in Hebei province, the Guanting Reservoir National Wetland Park occupies an area of more than 13,000 hectares, ranking top among rest wetland parks in North China. It serves as an effective measure to improve the eco-environment and to protect natural resources.
There are multiple types of wetlands in the park, which nurtures different styles of scenery. Lotus ponds, reed marshes, willow banks, groves and forests make an ideal habitat for a large number of waterfowl. In spring time, migrant birds come back from the south. Hundreds of thousands of gulls, swans, herons and ducks inject more vigor into the park, making it a harmonious ecosystem.
Visitors can enjoy the sightseeing with facilities and services such as viewing platforms, walkways, cycling and picking. A wetland museum has also been built to offer more knowledge of the local natural landscape and raise awareness of ecological protection.
