Qingdao in Shandong province has been honored as one of China's top 10 most influential cities in terms of its nighttime economy during an award ceremony held in Qingdao on Dec 6, according to a report on the subject.
Other listed cities included Chongqing municipality, Beijing, Changsha in Hunan province, Shenzhen and Guangzhou in Guangdong province, Jinan in Shandong province, Chengdu in Sichuan province, Xi'an in Shaanxi province, and Shijiazhuang in Hebei province.
A breakwater near the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center in Shinan district was also recognized as a landmark of Qingdao's nighttime economy, which has proved a popular place for dating.
Since the beginning of this year, Qingdao has been promoting its nighttime economy, with integration of shopping, catering, entertainment, performances and sightseeing.
The city has received 300 million yuan ($42.65 million) in government financial investment and 250 million yuan in social investment. To date, a total of 21 bar streets have been established in the city to further the development of its nighttime economy.
