Shinan awarded for 'smart city' projects

A forum on the development of smart cities and intelligent industries was held in Qingdao, Shandong province on Dec 9. Examples of successful smart city development were shared at the event.
During the forum, Shinan district was honored with the "Excellent Organization Award", as it was the district with the most enterprises to receive awards.

Successful examples of smart city development began being selected at the beginning of October. The Shinan district government encouraged enterprises to submit their projects for consideration, and offered them its full support.

A total of 228 smart city-related undertakings by 177 enterprises around the city were submitted for selection, 98 of which were awarded after online voting, media evaluation, and professional reviews. Projects from 28 enterprises in Shinan district were selected as successful examples.

This is the third year this selection process has been carried out, and 5G demonstration has been introduced as a new category this year. The category includes things like 5G infrastructure, commercial uses of 5G, "5G+ industrial internet", and more.

The projects in the district that won awards revolved mainly around cloud computing, internet of things, mobile internet, big data, and artificial intelligence. The district is attempting to integrate emerging technologies with the manufacturing industry and promote the development of a smart city.

In the future, the district plans to further merge intelligent industries and strengthen its smart governance system.
