China's artificial intelligence (AI) industry is in a period of high-speed development. Zhongguancun has obvious advantages in developing its AI industry, and has formed the largest and most powerful AI innovation cluster in China.
Statistics show that Zhongguancun has more than half of the country's AI core research units and a number of well-known experts in its teams. By April 2019, the number of AI-related enterprises in Zhongguancun had reached 1,084, accounting for more than a quarter of the total number of businesses. CB Insights, a well-known venture capital firm, ranked six Chinese companies among the top 100 AI companies in the world. These included five from Zhongguancun.
In the first half of 2019, Haidian district of Beijing released fifteen measures to accelerate the innovation-led development of artificial intelligence in Zhongguancun Science Park. These measures included improving innovation capacity, focusing on supporting innovation at the source of key technologies, and encouraging early and long-term investment.
