5G network improves medical treatment in Nantong

The Second People's Hospital of Nantong has become the first public medical institute in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, to have 5G network coverage.

The hospital has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Telecom, one of the country's three major telecom carriers, to carry out trial operations and develop new applications for 5G technology.

The two sides agreed to take advantage of their respective strengths in order to develop a 5G intelligent medical treatment circle in Nantong, which would enhance service quality and efficiency.

The latest generation of mobile communications guarantees fast and stable upload and download speeds and can achieve download speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps.

5G features higher transmission rates, a higher capacity, and less latency than 4G networks, which allows people to communicate with each other from afar as if they were standing face-to-face.

When a patient is being transported to a hospital on an ambulance, information about the patient's condition can be sent to the hospital through a 5G network, allowing doctors to be well prepared in advance.

5G technology also makes long-distance medical treatment and surgeries possible. Doctors can not only guide their colleagues during surgeries via a live stream, but can also conduct surgery with the help of robots.
