A high-speed railway linking Hohhot, capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, with Beijing is currently having test runs, according to a report in the Hohhot Daily.
The high-speed track consists of two sections: the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Intercity Railway and the Zhangjiakou-Hohhot Railway.
After it goes into operation, 20 pairs of high-speed trains will run on the two lines. Hohhot, Baotou and Ulaanqab in the autonomous region will all have high-speed trains heading for Beijing.
Rail officials said the journey between Hohhot and Beijing will be shortened to 2 hours and 18 minutes.
