An Automated External Defibrillator – or AED – for cardiac emergencies was recently installed at Baotoudong Railway Station, according to a report in the Baotou Daily.
Rail officials said that installing AEDs in public places was an initiative designed to improve the success rate of rescues.
On Dec 2, the Red Cross Society of Donghe district invited professionals to conduct one-on-one AED hands-on training for staff members of the railway station.
Officials said that a combination of video instructions and hands-on practice helped employees to master the key skills for Cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR – the emergency procedure following a cardiac arrest.
They said it clarified how to respond correctly and rapidly when a coronary emergency occurs.
