Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, was recognized as China's leading city in smart city construction at the Asia-Pacific Smart City Development Forum held in Shenzhen, Guangdong province on Nov 14.
The evaluation was sponsored by the International Data Group (IDG) and ultimately settled on Jinan due to its outstanding smart city construction projects.
Jinan-based information technology company Inspur Group was chosen as the 2019 Chinese leading solution provider in smart city construction, due to its outstanding performance in the construction and operation of smart cities.
In recent years, Inspur Group has been striving to become China's leading operator in smart city construction. The company aims to make full use of digital technologies to make up for the shortage of government support in terms of funding, management and operation.
In 2013, the company established its first e-government cloud and is now providing cloud computing services to more than 160 provincial and municipal governments, benefiting 450 million people. It ranked first in terms of government cloud market share for five consecutive years.
Digital economy is at the forefront of a new technological and industrial revolution, said Zhu Dongfang, vice president of IDG Asia. He added that the value of China's smart city market is expected to exceed $59.9 billion by 2023.
