ZHENGZHOU - Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan province, has set up a special fund for the development of museums.
The municipal government said it would allocate 50 million yuan (about $7 million) annually to the Zhengzhou Museum Development Fund.
A maximum subsidy of 3 million yuan may be granted to a newly-built non-state-owned museum.
Henan is one of the cradles of Chinese civilization. It leads Chinese provinces in the number of underground cultural relics.
The city hopes the incentives would help add 100 new museums, including both public and private museums within three years.
