AI tech applied in quality testing in Baotou

Baotou Yongzhenjingping Magnetic Material Technology Co has employed artificial intelligence technology in its quality testing, according to a Nov 26 report in the Baotou Daily newspaper.

The rare earth flat magnetic steel products produced by the company are divided into qualified and unqualified products and are distributed to different regions, after the quality testing is completed by AI robots.

Local officials said this marks the very first time that AI technology had been put into application in Baotou city -- and is expected to boost the transformation and upgrading of rare earth companies in the city.

The magnetic products produced by the company need strict testing of their outer diameters, internal controls and their dimensions. Officials said that testing of a batch of the products was completed much more quickly by using an AI robot.

With the application of the AI quality inspection robot, the number of staff members needed for testing was reduced from 40 to 10.

Currently, visual AI technology has been widely applied in industrial fields including rare earth magnetic products, and 3C products.

Baotou, as a hub for the rare earth permanent magnet industry, has taken the lead in applying AI quality inspection technology.

To date, companies like Yongzhenjingping Magnetic Material Technology Co have introduced AI technology to achieve higher efficiency and production capacity.
