Bailing General Airport completed installation of a swag of high-tech equipment recently -- officially connecting it to the North China Meteorological Data Sharing Network, according to a Nov 21 report in the Inner Mongolia Daily.
The airport’s meteorological data acquisition all-in-one machine can receive data generated by self-viewing equipment in real time.
By accessing the self-viewing data sharing platform, the weather forecaster at Baotou Airport can collect and analyze the meteorological information in Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner, to make accurate weather forecasts.
The airport, located in Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, includes a 1,200 meter-long runway, an additional runway which measures 173m long and 15m wide, a plane docking area measuring over 8,000 square meters and a modern airport terminal.
The total investment is 76 million yuan ($10.82 million).
The new airport is expected to improve transport conditions and the investment environment of the banner, as well as to promote the development of trade and tourism to boost regional economic growth.
The airport will connect the area with other Inner Mongolia destinations including Baotou, Hohhot, Urad Middle Banner and Ordos.
After the official launch of the airport, its primary role will be to focus on short-distance transportation.
It is expected that the journey from Baotou to Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner will be shortened to 40 minutes.
