A volleyball team consisting of 12 Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology students has set out for the filming of a volleyball-themed movie in Beijing, according to an Oct 23 report in the Baotou Evening News.
The movie, directed by Hong Kong movie director Peter Chan, is to honor the golden generation of Chinese women’s volleyball.
Movie star Gong Li will play the role of a volleyball coach, according to the producers.
They said the movie tells the stories of the struggles of several generations of Chinese women's volleyball players, as well as their tenacity, highlighting the spirit of the Chinese women's volleyball team.
Founded in 2002, the university’s volleyball team is one of the top university and college volleyball teams in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Since 2007, it has successively won the volleyball tournament at the Inner Mongolia University Students Sports Meeting which is held every four years.
Last year, the team took part in the National University Students Sports Meeting on behalf of Inner Mongolia.
