The Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center, covering a land area of 1.65 hectares, is a modern theater cluster, its curved roof design and graceful architectural structure evoking memories of old Beijing.
The center has a grand theater with 1,600 seats, a medium-sized theater with 1,000 seats, a small theater with 400 seats and a multi-functional theater with 300 seats.
The grand theatre is Beijing's first-ever professional theater for musicals. The wine-red walls and golden champagne ceiling pay homage to the classic Western theater style, yet the design at the entrances of the auditorium, which are of a traditional Chinese style, speak of the combination of East and West design concepts.
The drawer-like design on the walls of the medium-sized theater imitates the drama cases taken by the wandering performers in the Tianqiao area in the past. At the same time it helps to create the best acoustic effect in the venue.
The eastern lobby houses a big traditional-styled opera stage made totally of timber. It connects the small theater and the multi-functional theater.
Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center has put on various stage art works from home and abroad. The center has been committed to introducing the world's classic performances and creating high-quality original works.
However, it is also fully aware of the social responsibility it takes on as a cultural enterprise and has held many activities for the general public, including art popularization events, performances dedicated to the common people with affordable ticket prices, art training classes for youth and programs supporting young artists.
