A Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei sports industry conference and expo was held in Beijing to tackle common development of the industry within the zone from Thursday to Friday.
Under a document issued by the State Council in 2014 to direct the development of the sports industry and promote sports consumption and the strategic plan of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development, the expo has witnessed its third consecutive session. Neighboring provinces and those in other parts of country took part in this year's expo. Olympic taekwondo champion Wu Jingyu and world figure skating champion Yan Han auctioned their personal sports gears on the China Beijing Equity Exchange during the expo.
Yang Haibin, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, said the social attribute is the basic precondition to develop the sports industry, and urged the integration of talents of different specialties, enterprises and industries.
He Wenyi, a sports industry researcher at Peking University, said the value of sport is its people-centered nature, and it should be advocated strongly to meet people’s needs and aspirations for a better life. The industry should contribute as a new point of GDP growth.
Representatives from major sport projects based in the three areas, including Shougang Industrial Park in Beijing, Alpine Ski Club of Tianjin and Genting Secret Garden of Chongli in Hebei, presented their properties to the conference and held talks with potential business partners during the two-day expo.
