South China's Hainan province is taking measures to speed up 5G construction by unconditionally opening public facilities to mobile operators and strengthening coordination between 5G and road networks.
The facilities include public areas, green spaces, roofs, lampposts, bridges, tunnels and other facilities controlled by all levels of governments, public institutions and State-owned enterprises, according to the provincial government.
The facilities are required to be unconditionally open to communications companies free of charge for building 5G information infrastructure such as base stations, transmission lines and machine rooms, while facilitating their entry and use of electricity.
Telecom operators are encouraged to build 5G machine rooms in existing spaces of public facilities including sanitation transfer stations, sewage treatment units, as well as public toilets.
The 5G infrastructure and road network are required to achieve synchronized planning, design and construction.
