Known as the Empire Theatre before 1956, Tianjin Concert Hall was built in 1922. After being reconstructed in 2005, the concert hall was reopened on August 28th 2009, becoming a cultural landmark building of Tianjin with its brand-new appearance.
Tianjin Concert Hall is a ship-shaped structure with a splendid main building in a white European-style. The tower is inlaid with a golden dome. The unique dome and exquisite carving show the infinite charm of the music hall, which is regarded as the “Golden Hall” of Tianjin.
The hall has 624 stalls, 8 private boxes and 650 seats in total. The stage is 20 meters wide and 14 meters deep. It has a liftings tage, a Steinway piano, an electronic organ, and first-class acoustic and lighting systems.
The concert hall can hold an orchestra of 120 people. The acoustic system is designed according to the principles of sound waves with an excellent effect. It can also host different forms of art, such as modern music, dramaand magic.
