An art exhibition opened at Hongmei cultural and creative park in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on Oct 27.
It is being co-hosted by the park and Beijing 798 ZERO art center, with Zhang Yannan, director of the College of Arts of Northeastern University responsible for organizing the event.
All exhibits are the work of Li Xiangqun, who is renowned in China’s contemporary sculpture scene. His works have been collected by the National Art Museum of China, the National Museum of China, the National Museum of Modern Chinese Literature, and the International Olympic Committee.
Born in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, Li graduated from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, where he now works as dean of the academy.
It is the first time that Li has exhibited his art in Northeast China, allowing him to show off some of his best work from the past 15 years.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the creations on display pay tribute to the country, especially the northeastern region.
In Li’s opinion, culture is of great importance in revitalizing Northeast China, and he feels he can contribute through his artwork.
The exhibition will run until Jan 6, 2020.
