The first Dingxiang Lake water screen film festival amazed and delighted locals when it kicked off on Nov 5 at Dingxiang Lake Park in the Yuhong district of Shenyang city, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province.
Experts say a water screen is a new form of film projection medium that uses a thin film of water for the projection of videos, lasers and other lighting effects. They say the images appear to float magically in front the audience – enhanced by the surreal effect of water flowing in front of them.
The organizers of the event said that with its three water curtains, images were projected of Chinese fans, blue and white porcelain, face masks from the Peking Opera, flowers and the national flag – all featuring Chinese and modern elements.
The festival will last for a week, staging three performances every day for visitors.
Dingxiang Lake is the largest lake in Shenyang and the organizers said the activity aims to enrich people’s cultural lives and build a new tourism landmark in the city.
