A fashion show held as part of the 2019 Qingdao World University Student Fashion Design Competition took place on a trestle in Shinan district, Qingdao, Shandong province on Nov 8.
The 440-meter trestle, with over 120 years of history, is one of Qingdao's most famous landmarks. It was also the site of last year's fashion show.
Clothing designed by talented artists from around the world was presented on the trestle. The combination of innovative fashion designs and ancient architecture attracted attention from around the world.
"I'm interested in Chinese culture, and it was great to be able to present my work on the ancient trestle," said Jackson Wiederhoeft, a designer from Parsons School of Design in the United States.
A total of 10 designs were awarded from among 100 works. One first-place prize, two second-place prizes, three third-place prizes, and four other prizes were given out during the award ceremony on Nov 9.
The district took the competition as a chance to showcase its potential for a strong fashion industry.
