Jinan girl wins 14th Miss Globalcity Pageant

The grand finale of the 14th Miss Globalcity Pageant was held in Jinan, Shandong province on Nov 2.

Han Xiao, a Jinan local, stood out from among 50 participants from 36 countries and seized the championship, followed by Diana Romero from Mexico, Evgenia Matveea from Russia, Telma Filipa from Portugal, and Ding Qi from Qingdao, Shandong province.

Long Yuxiang, executive president of the China International Cultural Communication Center, one of the competition's guiding units, said that the competition helps spread Chinese culture to the rest of the world and enhances communication and friendship.

According to Zhi Liang, head of the city's cultural and tourism bureau, the event, as one of the top five pageants in the world, has held its finale in Jinan for two consecutive years now.

The event had a catchy slogan: "Love for the Earth Starts in the City", a call for people to develop a harmonious relationship with nature, said Zhang Rujun, founder of the pageant.

In addition, a series of cultural and tourism activities was arranged during the event to teach participants about Jinan.
