Jinan's foreign trade amounted to 80.21 billion yuan ($11.62 billion) in the first three quarters of the year, growing 13.3 percent year-on-year, according to statistics released by Jinan Customs.
The city's exports rose by 3.7 percent to 46.92 billion yuan, while its imports surged 30.4 percent to 33.29 billion yuan over the period.
In September, Jinan's foreign trade reached 9.88 billion yuan, up by 8.2 percent year-on-year.
From January to September, the city's general trade imports and exports totaled 73.66 billion yuan, up 15.6 percent year-on-year, accounting for 91.8 percent of the city's total foreign trade.
Jinan Customs said private enterprises contributed the majority of the total at 46.08 billion yuan, while state-owned enterprises presented huge increase at 41.7 percent year-on-year.
Trade with economies involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 30.05 billion yuan in the first three quarters of 2019, an increase of 12.8 percent year-on-year.
