XINING - Northwest China's Qinghai province has seized 64.73 tonnes of problematic food products during a food safety campaign, according to the provincial administration for market regulation.
The products are worth 957,000 yuan (about $137,000), including fake, expired and other problematic products.
Since mid-September, the administration launched the joint food safety campaign targeting food safety on campus, the quality of agricultural products and other problems, together with several other departments.
"We launched the campaign to ring the alarm for criminals and show our determination to safeguard the rights and interests of consumers," said Ma Guowei, director of the food safety coordination department of the administration.
It will step up efforts to reinforce food safety supervision and establish a series of long-term mechanisms for food safety on campus and in other fields, according to the administration.
