Huangpu district / Guangzhou Development District (GDD) is vigorously implementing the "5-2-3-6" traffic development strategy, i.e. unclogging the five roads connecting the downtown area to the west, which are Guangshan road, Yunxi road, Guangyuan East road, Huangpu East road and Linjiang Avenue East Extension Line; pushing forward the construction of two roads: the Yongjiu Express North Extension and the Jiulong Avenue North Extension; planning three river-crossing tunnels from Lingang Economic Zone to Pazhou, Xiqu to Hualong and Shayu Island; and accelerating the construction of six express roads, such as Guangzhou-Huizhou West Extension Line and North Second Ring Road Interchange. The strategy is expected to open up a fast traffic network leading to Guangzhou city, Baiyun Airport, Guangzhou South Railway Station and the metropolis cluster interchange. Taking the Guangzhou International Sports and Entertainment Center as the starting point, the time it takes to get to Guangzhou South Railway Station will be reduced to 30 minutes from 1 hour, the time needed to get to Paomachang will be reduced to 25 minutes from 50 minutes, and less than 15 minutes will be needed to get to Baiyun Airport from Knowledge City.
