A total of 3,570 runners from all across the country took part in the 2019 Inner Mongolia Hasuhai Grassland Marathon – which kicked off in Tumd Left Banner, Hohhot, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Oct 20, according to people.com.cn.
Baatar, an official from the banner, addressed the opening ceremony, highlighting the progress it had made in its sports industry with large scale events successfully held, including the Hasuhai Grassland Marathon and UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup.
This year’s Hasuhai Grassland Marathon included a full marathon of 42.195 kilometers and mini marathon of 6 km.
Siqin Bilige from Tongliao won the men’s full marathon with a time of 2 hours and 29 minutes. Tian Mingxia from Hohhot won the women’s full marathon with a time of 3 hours, 46 minutes and 2 seconds.
The winners of the marathon got cash prizes from 1,000 yuan ($141.46) to 10,000 yuan.
The participants were divided into five groups according to age. The top 16 male participants and female participants of each group were given bonus of up to 2,000 yuan.
The top eight participants from Tumd Left Banner residents got special bonuses of up to 1,000 yuan.
