The first international ecological agriculture and animal husbandry expo opened in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Oct 10.
Covering an area of 120,000 square meters, the expo includes eight exhibition areas displaying items including agricultural and livestock products, dairy products, as well as farm equipment, attracting nearly 1,000 exhibitors from across the country.
Local media reported that agricultural machinery and the latest agricultural pesticides will also be exhibited during the expo.
Feng Yuzhen, mayor of Hohhot, made an address at the opening ceremony, noting that Hohhot has made great progress in the modernization of agriculture in recent years.
He said that its agriculture industry has also been standardized and mechanized over the past several years, with a batch of companies such as Yili and Mengniu winning recognition across the country and the world.
According to Feng, the expo will offer a platform for exhibitors to exchange experiences in improving the high quality growth of the agriculture sector.
Several forums including an innovation development of the dairy industry forum are set for the expo. Promotion of agricultural products will also be held during the expo.
The expo is scheduled to close on Oct 12.
