Zhangjiajie rated as 'Beautiful Landscape City'

In recent days, after media selection and expert identification, the list of Beautiful Landscape City (2019) was issued. Zhangjiajie is one of such cities.

This selection is launched by China Ecological Civilization Research and Promotion Association, with the aim to find and advocate a landscape city model of harmonious coexistence between human and nature. It is a large publicity activity to discover and advocate beauty. Zhangjiajie can be selected owing to its ecology, health preservation and other factors.

Only 13 cities won the title nationwide. Besides Zhangjiajie, Danjiangkou, Guilin, Jixi, Jiaxing, Nanning, Hongya, Tonghua, Wanzhou of Chongqing, Wuzhong of Suzhou, Yuhuan, Tengchong and Zhongshan are also included. (The list in no particular order.)

What are the conditions required for a "beautiful landscape city"?

The organizer said, the great beauty of a city is reflected in three aspects.

Firstly, the beauty lies in trueness. The spiritual core of those famous historical cities for thousands of years relies on both cities and landscapes.

Secondly, the beauty lies in diversity. A single system is neither viable nor beautiful.

Thirdly, the beauty lies in entirety. The landscapes of a city do not exist in isolation, but in a larger ecosystem. The beauty of a landscape city is also composed of the beauty of larger space.
