Weifang-Laixi Railway to open in 2020

Beams were successfully erected for the Weifang-Laixi Railway on Oct 29, and tracks have been being laid since November. The railway is expected to begin operating in 2020.
The railway starts from Weifang North Station and ends at Laixi North Station, passing through Changyi, Weifang, and Pingdu, Qingdao in Shandong province.

The 126-kilometer railway consists of four stops and can support speeds of up to 350 km per hour.

The railway will allow people to travel between Jinan and Yantai in Shandong province in less than two hours, and from Jinan to Pingdu in only 50 minutes.

The Weifang-Laixi Railway will become an important part of the Jinan-Qingdao Railway and the Qingdao-Rongcheng intercity railway, shortening travel times throughout the Jiaodong Peninsula.
