Beijing Public Transport Group plans to introduce facial recognition technology to better meet demands of passengers, a senior official from the transport authority said on Saturday.
Zhu Kai, CEO of the Beijing Public Transport Group, said the company will apply real and accurate methods to optimize bus networks, adding a cloud platform will also be used to realize efficient data analysis.
He made the remarks at an urban public transportation equipment and technology exhibition held on Saturday in Beijing, adding building an intelligent bus system will be the next step of the company's planning.
In addition, Beijing Public Transport Group will soon roll out an inquiry function in its app to check passenger data on buses in real time, such as a red alert indicating a vehicle was very crowded inside.
"One-pass" QR code scanning to take subways and buses in Beijing also entered the testing stage, according to the company.
