"We can't hear you, but we are happy to serve you", reads a sign at a succulent plants store in Tianjin staffed by hearing-impaired workers.
Dong Miaoqiang, who started the business one year ago, said working in the store is meaningful to the hearing-impaired staff, even though profits from succulent sales are decreasing.
"The store is set up so more people can come in and have the opportunity to get access to hearing impaired people," Dong said.
Dong also said she hopes to develop her store as a training ground where her employees can not only be gardeners, but also take on other work. This will give them more social contact, increased income, and improved living conditions.
