BEIJING -- China's procuratorates approved the arrest of 37,514 suspects over infringements upon minors' rights and interests in the first three quarters of this year, up 23.2 percent year on year, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said on Oct 30.
During the period, 43,640 people were prosecuted for infringing upon the rights and interests of minors, up 27.6 percent, according to the SPP.
Procuratorial organs across the country have stepped up efforts to prevent the sexual assault of minors, the SPP said, adding that it is promoting the establishment of an information database for people committing such crimes and a system for inquiry upon their employment.
