A rewarding cooperation and exchange session between Beijing and Northeast China’s Jilin province was held in Beijing on Oct 27, according to local reports.
Attendees at the session included Cai Qi, Party secretary of Beijing, Chen Jining, mayor of Beijing, Bayanqolu, Party secretary of Jilin province and Jing Junhai, governor of Jilin.
At the meeting, Cai thanked Jilin province’s long-term support for Beijing’s development.
He said that as the cradle of China’s industry and an important granary, Jilin was a key window opening to the northeastern countries and regions -- and that Beijing could learn from Jilin’s successful experience in its revitalization and opening up.
Cai said that the 2022 Olympic Winter Games will be held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou -- and Jilin could get involved.
He said that Jilin has rich winter sports resources and boasted a large number of professionals in the sector.
Cai said he hoped that the two places would deepen their links in the winter sports area -- training more professionals, promoting winter sports and increasing the general promotion of the event in 2022.
Bayanqolu said at the session that Jilin thanked Beijing for its continuous support, and the province would learn from Beijing’s experiences in order to accelerate its revitalization.
The Party chief added that the 2022 Olympic Winter Games provided a great development opportunity for Jilin’s winter economy -- and Jilin would offer every possible support for the event.
A cooperation agreement between the organization committee of Beijing Olympic Winter Games and Jilin Provincial People’s Government was signed during the session.
