Reminder of airline changes at Beijing Daxing International Airport

Beijing's brand new Daxing International Airport launched international and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan services from Oct 27, the first day of the latest season changeover. Here is a reminder for air passengers.

1. What is a season changeover?

The season changeovers are traditional times for schedule changes, although airlines regularly implement changes throughout the year.

There is significance to the date of Oct 27 for most airlines. That is the start of the northern winter scheduling season for the aviation industry.

2. What is the time period?

The latest season changeover is from Oct 27, 2019 to March 28, 2020.

3. What changes will it bring to airlines?

Starting from Oct 27, the number of airlines operating at Beijing Daxing International Airport will reach 15 — seven domestic and eight based overseas.

Ten airlines will operate only at Beijing Daxing International Airport, including four domestic airlines, China United Airlines, Capital Airlines, Hebei Airlines and Juneyao Airlines, and six overseas airlines, British Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, iFly Airlines and Himalayan Airlines.

Five airlines will operate at both Beijing Daxing International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport, including three domestic airlines, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Air China, and two overseas airlines, LOT Polish Airlines and Finnair.

Beijing Daxing International Airport is expected to handle 280 frequencies every day in the coming winter-spring season.

4. How many routes and destinations will it schedule?

In the winter-spring season, Beijing Daxing International Airport is expected to schedule 119 routes, including 104 domestic routes and 15 international routes to 118 destinations.
