China-themed poems titled "Osmanthus" by renowned Arab poet Adonis (Ali Ahmad Said Asbar) will make their debut in China at launch events scheduled from Oct. 31 to Nov. 15.
"Osmanthus," in Chinese, consists of 50 poems that express the poet's affections for China's natural scenery, history, and culture, according to the publisher Yilin Press.
Inspired by the poet's trip to China last year, the Chinese version of the poems is the first version to be released worldwide, even before the Arabian version, the publisher said.
Born in Syria in 1930, Adonis moved to Lebanon in 1956, where he started his literary career. In the past few decades, Adonis has published dozens of poem collections and other literary works, winning a number of international awards.
