State Council approves plan for ecological demonstration zone in Yangtze River Delta

The State Council released a circular on Oct 29 approving the overall plan to build a demonstration zone for integrated ecological and green development in the Yangtze River Delta region.

According to the circular, the demonstration zone is aimed at achieving an organic unity of a green economy, high-quality life and sustainable development, and promoting co-construction and sharing among administrative regions with balanced weight on ecological civilization and socio-economic growth.

The people’s governments of Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang are asked to improve the working mechanism and make support policies to ensure the tasks are completed as scheduled.

It said that related departments of the State Council should strengthen the coordination and guidance on implementation of the plan, and provide support.

The National Development and Reform Commission, Leading Group Office for Promoting the Integrated Development of the Yangtze River Delta should enhance analysis and supervision on implementation of the plan, the circular added.
