An exhibition themed with “Meet the Tang Dynasty Again” -- hosted by the National Cultural Heritage Administration and the Liaoning publicity department -- opened at Liaoning Provincial Museum in Shenyang in Liaoning’s capital city, on Oct 7.
A total of 100 exhibits from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) were on display, including 38 national first grade cultural relics.
Organizers said paintings and calligraphy pieces can provide a window into the social prosperity of the Tang Dynasty, showcasing development of politics, culture, religion and other areas.
They said the event is the largest ever exhibition in the world showcasing the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty through paintings and calligraphy pieces.
The National Library of China and other museums also gave support to the exhibition. Some of their collections on the Tang Dynasty are also on display at the Shenyang exhibition, including gold vessels and tri-color glazed ceramics.
The exhibition will last until Jan 5, 2020, during which forums and academic seminars on the Tang culture will also be held.
