A total of 304,900 homes of severely disabled people across China were renovated with barrier-free facilities from 2016 to 2018, according to a forum on Oct 11, 2019.
The construction of a barrier-free environment reflects the level of a country's economic and social construction, said Lyu Shiming, vice-chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) at the forum focusing on barrier-free construction within the Belt and Road framework.
The country's ongoing barrier-free renovation campaign has benefited around 3 million families of disabled people in China, according to Lyu.
Lyu said the CDPF will share its laws and policies on the construction of a barrier-free environment, and launch cooperation programs with countries and regions along the Belt and Road to train professionals.
