The Hunan Airport Corporation announced on Oct 13 that a regular direct flight between Changsha and Nepal's capital Kathmandu will begin on Nov 20. This will be Hunan’s first direct air route to South Asia.
The new route will be operated by Himalaya Airlines every Wednesday. A one-way trip will take about four hours. Specific flight schedules will be released soon.
Himalayan Airlines was founded in 2014 as a China-Nepal joint venture. Headquartered in Kathmandu, it is Nepal's largest foreign direct investment project in the field of civil aviation.
So far, there have been no direct flights between central China and Kathmandu. Hunan has actively participated in the construction of the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network.
The province has also accelerated the construction of Changsha's "Four-hour Aviation Economic Circle", whose goal is to enable travelers to reach many capital cities from Changsha within four hours by air. The province will continue to add direct flights to South Asia as planned.
After opening, the flight will directly link Hunan and even central China with Nepal. This will greatly facilitate friendly exchanges between the Chinese and Nepalese people.
