Inner Mongolia Museum of Natural History opens

Inner Mongolia Museum of Natural History opened in Hohhot, the capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Nov 10.

The museum was built in October 2018 with a total floor area of 48,759 square meters and an exhibition area of 21,795 square meters. It has five thematic exhibition halls covering 13 fields, including agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, water, animals and plants, paleontology, geology and mineral resources.

The exhibition room on its first floor is named "Magnificent Inner Mongolia" and aims to show the overall topography and landforms of Inner Mongolia, as well as the natural resources and landscapes in different regions.

The hall on the second floor is named "Ancient Inner Mongolia" and showcases the topography and biological evolution of Inner Mongolia during the 3.5 billion years from the Archean to Cenozoic Era.

In addition, the third floor includes an exhibition hall with mineral resources as its theme. It introduces the causes, types, and distribution characteristics of mineral resources throughout Inner Mongolia and their significant role in people's lives and development.

In addition, a section on the fourth floor focuses on the practice history and achievements of the representative industries or regions in strengthening the ecological environment, though the careful management of areas such as forests and lakes. The rest of the museum's exhibition halls focus on the dinosaur age.

Hohhot residents can visit with their ID cards for free.
