The Fifth Inner Mongolia Internet Plus College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition came to an exciting close with the final held at Baotou Teachers’ College in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Aug 25, local media reported.
Participants presented their projects at the final with carefully prepared videos and live presentations. After the experts and judges commented and gave their gradings, a total of 24 gold medals, 34 silvers and 42 bronzes were awarded.
The latest of the competition, now in its fifth season, started in May. It attracted the participation of 46,000 students from colleges and universities in the autonomous region, with 17,600 projects offered up for judging.
Organizers said the numbers exceeded those of last four sessions, and a total of 100 projects were selected to enter the final.
In addition, activities, such as the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Achievements Exhibition of Inner Mongolia, were held throughout the competition period.
In the past two years, the Education Department of Inner Mongolia has been making full use of the development funds of local colleges and universities -- and the special funds for higher education in the autonomous region -- to support the development of undergraduate majors and a group of experimental training platforms for colleges and universities.
Since 2016, 1,100 innovation and entrepreneurship training programs targeting university and college students have been established. Training courses on innovation and entrepreneurship education have been given to teachers and university staff.
So far, Inner Mongolia University and Baotou Light Industry Vocational and Technical College have each been identified the Ministry of Education as a Demonstration School for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform.
Three universities, including Inner Mongolia University, were selected to participate in the autonomous region's mass entrepreneurship innovation demonstration base.
