Mining conference opens in Tianjin

The opening ceremony of the China Mining Conference and Exhibition was held in Tianjin on Wednesday.

Themed as "High-quality development for shared future of global mining industry", the conference has attracted attendants from over 50 countries and regions.

Ling Yueming, vice-minister at the Ministry of Natural Resources, said at the opening ceremony that "the conference will offer new platforms to promote cooperation and communications among global mining communities and to facilitate high-quality development in the mining industry."

Ling also said that economic globalization and free trade, alongside industrial revolution and technological innovation, are essential for the global mining industry to achieve high-quality development.

"The Belt and Road Initiative creates new opportunities for the development of global mining industry," he said.

Peng Qiming, head of China Mining Association, the conference organizer, said at the opening ceremony that "the mining industry is heading to green development through tech innovation, and China is working to strengthen collaborations and exchanges with various countries and regions to achieve the goal."
