Over 2.19 million tourists visited Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region during the seven-day National Day holiday, up 15.51 percent from last year, according to the city's culture, radio, television, sports and tourism bureau.
A total of 1.93 million tourists visited major tourist attractions, rural scenic spots, and agritainment destinations in the city, generating 47.52 million yuan ($6.65 million) in gate receipts.
"Red tourism," or revolution-themed tourism, was a highlight of this National Day holiday as this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. More tourists visited these locations compared with previous years.
