Passenger volume at the Xingdong International Airport in Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province hit a record high of 11,062 on Oct 7, the last day of the National Day holiday.
Officials reported that the airport handled a total of 71,363 passengers and 572 flights during the seven-day holiday, an increase of 21.53 percent and 18.18 percent, respectively, compared with the same period last year.
Among the most popular domestic destinations were Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Guiyang, Zhuhai and Zhangjiajie, according to the local authorities.
They said that outbound trips saw significant growth during the holiday, with a total of 5,605 tourists traveling abroad, an increase of 72 percent compared with the same period last year.
Officials said that Nha Trang, Bangkok and Seoul proved popular among Nantong’s residents.
