In the first eight months of this year, Zhanjiang's import and export value of countries along the Belt and Road reached 7.92 billion yuan ($1.11 billion), a year-on-year increase of 32.7 percent. Among them, exports were 5.01 billion yuan, up 24.3 percent, while imports were 2.91 billion yuan, up 50.4 percent.
In the first eight months of this year, the city’s foreign trade to countries along the Belt and Road in general trading was 6.61 billion yuan, an increase of 34.6 percent, accounting for 83.4 percent of the total import and export value.
The import and export of private enterprises in Zhanjiang to those BRI countries was 3.82 billion yuan, up 34.6 percent. The import and export of state-owned enterprises was 2.39 billion yuan, up 20.7 percent, while the import and export of Sino-foreign joint ventures was 890 million yuan, up 48.7 percent.
ASEAN is the main import and export market of Zhanjiang, with a total trade value of 3.63 billion yuan and an increase of 13.1 percent in the first eight months of this year.
Rapid growth has remained in furniture exports and aquatic products imports. Exports of furniture and parts was valued at 1.03 billion yuan, an increase of 48.2 percent. Imports of aquatic products was valued at 1.22 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2 times.
