As a highlight, a keynote seminar held on Sept 22 invited TCM masters, famed scholars, scientists and professors to discuss the preservation and development of TCM. An Jianbo, a head from the health committee of Xingtai city, said that "Bian Que TCM culture is an enormous cultural and spiritual treasure left by our ancestors, and we are obligated to inherit and develop it well." He suggested that Xingtai city should take this opportunity to expand the cultural influence of Bian Que culture and better inherit TCM, to serve people's health.
The congress also facilitated the landing of the advanced ultrasensitive quality examination technology QCM in Chongqing municipality from abroad. According to experts, the technology can detect and distinguish harmful and beneficial substances, which will effectively increase the efficiency of TCM materials, and thus accelerate the progress of TCM standardization.
During the congress, 18 projects concerning the TCM industry were signed with a total investment amount of 6.73 billion yuan (around $943 million).
China has signed TCM cooperative deals with more than 40 foreign governments and organizations, and TCM has spread to more than 180 countries and regions overseas. According to statistics, there are 13,000 foreign students coming to learn TCM each year and around 200,000 foreign patients coming to China to get TCM treatment.
