International fruit trade expo to open in Yuncheng

The fourth Yuncheng International Fruit Trade Expo will be held in Yuncheng city in Shanxi province on Oct 21-25, according to a news conference in Taiyuan held on Sept 24.

Sponsored by the China Fruit Marketing Association and the Yuncheng government, this year's fruit trade expo aims to promote the high-quality development of the local fruit industry and to make Shanxi's fruit more popular around the world.

This year the organizers will set up two venues for the event.

The main venue will be in the Yuncheng Agricultural Exhibition Center.

The branch venue is to be located in the Apple Theme Park in Wanrong county.

A total of 11 exhibition areas -- including areas for international fruit, four Chinese major apple production regions, dried fruit and fruit processing -- are planned for the expo.

Advanced agricultural machinery will also be on display.

The organizers said businesspeople from all over the country and more than 40 countries will be invited to the event, which plans to establish a platform for global fruit industry communications and cooperation.

In addition, seven events -- including fruit production and marketing match making meetings, a summit on developments in the global fruit industry and cultural performances featuring Yuncheng folk customs -- will be organized during the expo.
