A press conference was held on Sept 23 in Guangzhou, announcing that the Understanding China Guangzhou Conference will be held from Oct 25 to 27.
The Understanding China Conference, co-organized by the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, and the 21st Century Council of the Berggruen Institute, was first held in 2013.
This year's conference will be held in Guangzhou and is the first of its kind to be held outside Beijing. It is expected to invite about 200 international guests from politics, business, academia, and the media.
Mayors of cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and other world famous bay areas will be invited to a roundtable conference to share their experiences in development.
Li Junru, executive vice-chairman of the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, said that the conference will focus on the new round of economic globalization, as well as further reform and opening-up policies.
"The new round of economic globalization has provided excellent opportunities for China, and how to grasp these opportunities is a question for both China and Guangdong," added Li.
Wei Hongguang, deputy secretary general of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, said that Guangzhou will make full use of this conference to beautify the city's environment and improve the local business environment, turning the province into an important city cluster for international exchanges.
