Large laser water show to be staged in Lanzhou

A large-scale laser water show called "Memory of Pan Gu" will be staged in Lanzhou, Gansu province on September 28 at the Sun Moon Pavilion in Hekou ancient town, alongside the Yellow River.

The script of the show is based on a legend which says that Pan Gu separated heaven from earth to create the world.

The show has been co-produced by China and France for two years. It is a large multimedia performing arts project integrating art, creativity, technology and culture.

The venue, with more than 1,400 seats and covered by two separate ceilings, is ingeniously designed and unique in appearance with its semi-circular shape (hence the name "Sun Moon Pavilion").

The design concept reflects ancient dimensional ideas that the Earth was square and the Heaven was round.

The pavilion is located in the north of Hekou ancient town within the intersectings zones between the Zhuanglang River and the Yellow River. It is perfectly integrated with the Danxia landform outside the venue.

Zhang Jianxin, general manager of Lanzhou Xigu District Urban and Rural Development Investment, said that "Memory of Pan Gu" aims to become the world's top large-scale modern multimedia nighttime performance, ranking second in Asia and first in Northwest China.

The show will last till late October.
