Beijing Nanyuan Airport, the oldest airport in China, will cease servicing civil aircraft on September 30 and all the civil aviation operations will move to the Beijing Daxing International Airport once the new airport opens.
According to Beijing Daily's report on Tuesday, some citizens went to the Nanyuan airport to take pictures or even took a short flight to keep the plane ticket as a souvenir.
Nanyuan airport was built in 1910 and was initially used for military purposes.
It was extended twice in the year 2011 and 2016.
Now, it is used as both a civilian and military airfield.
